I’ve been a fan of audiobooks since I was in university. When most of my mental capacity was taken up with readings, exams and assignments, I found listening to audiobooks a great way to unwind and learn about my other interests. Nowadays, I listen to audiobooks when I’m driving, cooking and sometimes before bed. I really only listen to business, autobiographies and self-development books because I don’t think I’ll be able to listen to a fiction novel that goes for 12+ hours.
I adore audiobooks. I became addicted during university when textbooks took up my reading capacity. It was a way for me to explore new ideas, people and places and extend my knowledge. It was also a place to indulge in the more light-hearted titles, plough through different spiritual/self-development texts and give something new a try. I find that there are some titles I’d rather listen to than read, especially those that are read by the author.
I partly blame social media for my short attention span but I aim to retrain my brain into reading for periods longer than 15 minutes. My goal this year, one book a month (or twelve books this year). In my mind, I’d like to think, I’ll blow this out of the park.
Just like my listen list, this post is an ever-changed piece as I add new titles to the list, scratch off ones I didn’t love and review the ones I did love.
